Blindspot 2: Lack of holistic unconditional acceptance

Lack of persistent efforts in the waning cycle and holistic unconditional acceptance (all types of experiences) are key blindspots. A feeling of frustration or irritation sets in when one persistently experiences unfavorable circumstances or events. Its not uncommon to experience a rising urge to end the unfavorable (for example losing streak) or move to explore some other potentially favorable experience/alternative.

Let's take the example of a doubles table tennis or badminton game (Side1: Player A, Player B; Side 2: Player C, Player D). Repeated offensive and defensive shots are exchanged between player A and player C. As the rally progresses and with no breakthrough in sight, mental fatigue sets in long before physical fatigue. Player A attempts to direct the ball/shuttle cock now to player D to break the rally and explore the potential of defeating him/her. Frequently, a judgement error causes player A to play a miscalculated shot and lose the point.

We experience similar circumstances in our lives. Rather than persisting, we prefer to try our hand at alternate options that seem to be more promising. Basically giving up sooner than needed. In the process we lose the work we have already done and have to restart else where or we make a mistake while shifting from the current to alternate option. The mind tires out and starts visualizing and dreaming about alternate potentially rosy scenarios.  Little time and effort are invested at understanding whether the alternative actually qualifies and has the potential to deliver the perceived outcome. In the shift, we end up losing the work and effort already invested.

Instead of playing to win, if an individual participates in the play to experience the game, its diverse scenarios, one no longer feels irritated or frustrated. The purpose is now to observe one-self, remain within one self and experience the joy of playing. No urge to win over or defeat anyone. Each mis-step or a poorly executed shot is accepted and perceived as an opportunity to introspect and learn. Sharing insights with each other enriches and nourishes everyone. One does not feel frustrated or irritated or tired at the end of the game. Rather one looks forward to participating in the game again.
