Self worth and self devaluation
Right from birth, worldly processes are instrumental in building and repeatedly reinforcing a mental model that inappropriately associates our self-worth with worldly outcomes. Outcomes derived from the use of Physical, emotional and mental faculties in worldly activities as well as occupational and relationship experiences are preferred, favored and used to measure the success or failure of a soul's life journey.
Each step of life, each physical, emotional, mental, financial and relational transaction has little to offer and is bound to result in self devaluation, deep dissatisfaction, unhappiness, discontent in the course of time when the worldly outcomes do not meet individual, social and cultural norms.
The inappropriate understanding that 'my happiness is dependent on others and how others think about me' is at the root of all suffering.
Unfortunately the spotlight is carefully hidden from the hero of this entire play - the soul.
