Muscle spasms
Imbalance: Vata dosha.
- Vata anulomana: Triphala churna or Gandharva haritaki.
- Dipana: cow's ghee + sunthi powder + jaggery powder before meals.
- Balya: Yastimadhu kwath empty stomach twice a day.
- Shotha hara: local application of dukh dabav lepa followed by hot fomentation (for example using hot water bag or hot water tub bath).
- Snehana: local application of Shanti oil and /or Kundalini oil followed by hot fomentation (for example using hot water tub bath).
- Aahar: snigdha, laghu aahar.
- Vihaar: bed rest.
Dukh dabav lepa is a widely known lepa (external application) for painful muscle spasms.
A. Ingredients:
- Guggulu (Commiphora wightii)
- Meda (Litsea Glutinosa)
- Fitkari (Alum)
- Haridra (Âambe halad) (Curcuma amada)
- Ela (Elletaria cardamomum)
- Kundaru (Coccinia grandis)
- Revantchini (Rheum emodi)
- Gairik (red oxide of iron)
- Hirabol (Commiphoral mukul)
- Lodhra (Symplocos racemosus)
- Mayphal (Quercus incana)
- Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna)
B. It is useful in following conditions:
1. Muscle spasms, sprains, muscle injury
2. Leg pain, low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain.
3. Swelling associated with fractures.
